The next AFSCME Local 1 general membership meeting will be on Thursday, March 7, 2019, starting at 5:30 PM at the United Way building at 2059 Atwood Ave., Madison, WI 53704.

We will be having an election to send delegates to the AFSCME Council 32 state convention. The state convention will be held in Elkhart Lake on April 5-7, 2019. Besides elections for Council offices and making some decisions on issues, there will also be informative workshops on organizing, workplace and economic issues, etc. There will also be opportunities to volunteer for roles at the convention such as the elections committee, the sergeant-at-arms committee, etc., to help keep the convention running smoothly, so please also consider serving in such capacity.

Those who are elected to be delegates to the convention will have their registration and expenses covered by the Local. (Well, up to a certain point, of course -- you can't just go wild on our dime!)

If you are a member in good standing, you can also attend the convention, but only delegates can vote or speak on the floor.

The convention is an excellent way to learn more about your union and get more involved in it.

We will also be remembering our beloved chief steward, William Leanderts, who left us way too early in mid-February due to an infection. He was a very faithful, capable, and talented steward and a dear friend. He will be deeply missed.
