AFSCME Local 1 Stands in Solidarity with MercyHealth East Clinic Workers in Janesville

AFSCME Local 1 (Wisconsin State Employees’ Union) stands in continued solidarity with UAW Local 95 Unit 12 on strike at MercyHealth East Clinic in Janesville, WI. Workers with UAW Local 95 Unit 12 have been on strike fighting for basic safety measures, fair pay, and lower healthcare premiums since July 2nd. We know when healthcare workers have a voice on the job and are respected, it creates better healthcare outcomes for everyone. When workers’ concerns about safety are addressed properly, all patients are safer. If MercyHealth truly believes in their commitment to working together to make lives better for patients and families, they must bargain in good faith. 

AFSCME Local 1 will continue to show solidarity and support for striking workers of UAW Local 95 Unit 12 by walking the picket line, rallying, raising funds and donating items. We believe the best way to fight the epidemic of corporate greed in our healthcare system is to support workers. We encourage all workers and community members to join the fight.
