AFSCME Local 1 Stands in Solidarity with SEIU Wisconsin Meriter Service and Support Staff

AFSCME Local 1 (Wisconsin State Employees’ Union) stands in solidarity with SEIU Wisconsin Meriter Service and Support Staff as they enter into contract negotiations with Meriter Hospital.

The skilled workers of the Service and Support Staff union keep Meriter Hospital running.  Whether workers are keeping the hospital clean and sanitary, maintaining equipment, preparing food, or assisting with patient care, the Service and Support Staff are crucial to the success of the hospital.  Retaining experienced and knowledgeable staff is imperative for hospital operations to be safe and efficient.

We believe when any workers in the healthcare industry collectively bargain for their pay, benefits, and working conditions, it benefits workers, patients, and improves the healthcare system as a whole.  We believe that workers know best what they need to ensure quality patient care, keeping Meriter a top hospital in the area and helping our communities stay healthy and thrive.

We ask that Meriter Hospital administration maintain their commitment to providing outstanding patient care to the greater Madison community by bargaining in good faith.
