PANDEMICS DON'T MAKE US ESSENTIAL, OUR LABOR DOES.
AFSCME MEMBERS DESERVE THE VOICE AND TOOLS NECESSARY TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITIES SAFE, HEALTHY, AND STABLE.
Daniel is a community case manager at Journey Mental Health Center and he is an essential public safety worker.
Daniel is a member of AFSCME Local 125. As a case manager, Daniel supports clients who have severe and persistent mental health diagnoses. Daniel helps provide housing and employment support, facilitates activities of daily living and coordinates mental health counseling.
In his own words: "Some clients have lost housing as the result of a lost job, or need psychiatric support due increased symptoms as a result of isolation...Look at how fragile our systems are. Think about what we take for granted. Essential workers, whether it's what I'm doing or what others are, we are the glue for other peoples' lives. It's often unseen support."
Daniel knows that having a powerful voice in the workplace is vital to strong workplaces and stable communities. Essential public safety workers deserve quality pay, benefits, and support to match our essential contributions.
DANIEL NEEDS TOOLS TO CONTINUE ADVOCATING FOR OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS! TELL THE LEGISLATURE TO FUND THE FRONT LINES.
