Federal money for programs and services that help millions of vulnerable Americans and employ many AFSCME members could be in jeopardy next year.

Alexis Basel, a student from Middleton High School, has been awarded a national AFSCME Scholarship to assist her on the path to higher education. 

Alexis was required to apply and write an essay for the scholarship, of which hers was selected among hundreds of entries. 

She is eligible for the scholarship due to her family's acitive particpation in Local 2748. 

Congradulations Alexis! 

AFSCME Wisconsin members walked away from the Spring Election with much to be excited about!

At the state level, pro-worker Justice Rebecca Dallet was elected to the State Supreme Court and the referendum to remove the office of State Treasurer was defeated. Both of these wins are huge positives to working people and the State of Wisconsin.

The new term for AFSCME PEOPLE Committee members is approaching! AFSCME PEOPLE is the political arm of AFSCME Wisconsin and service on this committee puts members in direct contact with the political operations of our organization.

PEOPLE COMMITTEE JOB DESCRIPTION

An AFSCME Member from each Senate District serves on the committee. Duties include endorsing candidates and mobilizing members in your Senate District.

AFSCME Wisconsin has two vacancies on the Executive Board and will be holding a special election to fill those vacancies. 

Nominations will be accepted from members of the Executive Board during the Special Executive Board meeting on Saturday, March 24. If you wish to be considered for nomination, please provide your name, phone number, and email address to Council 32 President Paul Spink at [email protected] no later than Monday, March 19.

AFSCME Endorses Josh Kaul For Attorney General

 AFSCME PEOPLE is pleased to announce our endorsement of Josh Kaul for Attorney General. Josh was unanimously endorsed by the committee due to his shared values and strong support of working people in Wisconsin.

This Saturday, Democratic candidates for Governor participated in an extensive interview process conducted by the AFSCME PEOPLE Committee. The event was held in Madison and was open to members - many attended and provided great input!  

AFSCME PEOPLE is excited about several of the candidates, and for that reason, will not be issuing an endorsement at this time.
